The Yucatan Peninsula extends northward from Central America and includes the Mexican states of Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo. It is bordered to the west and north by the Gulf of Mexico and to the east by the Caribbean Sea.
The reef system is home to more than 65 species of Stony Coral, 350 species of Mollusk and more than 500 species of fish. There are numerous species that live in or around the reef system that are endangered or under some degree of protection, including Sea Turtles (Green, Loggerhead, Leatherback and the Hawksbill), the Queen Conch, the West Indian Manatee, the splendid Toadfish, the American Crocodile, the Morelet's Crocodile, the Nassau Grouper and Elkhorn Coral. The reef system is home to one of the world's largest populations of Manatees, with an estimated 1,000 to 1,500 of them.
The Caribbean Kraken is a 30 meters boat, remodeled in 2017, accommodating up to 18 guests in 9 comfortable Double or Twin bed cabins, most with en-suite bathrooms, the Caribbean Kraken is a comfortable and spacious Mexican liveaboard. The Upper Deck cabins 1,2,3,4. each have a Double bed and a Bunk above, with a private internal bathroom. The Lower Deck cabins 5,6,7,8,9, each have a Double bed and Bunk above, internal sink, but share 2 bathrooms in the hallway.
There is a cosy and bright Saloon area on the Main Deck with TV, DVD and music system, which lends itself to the boat's ethos of being relaxed and friendly foremost, as well as there being a dedicated computer station, tea and coffee are available day and night. There is a library of movies and books to help pass the time on the longer crossings.
Meals are served in the Dining Area of the Saloon on the Main Deck. This is the main place to socialize and chat with fellow guests, as well as on the partially covered Sun Deck. Here you can sunbathe on the loungers or take in the views of the remote Islands that the Caribbean Kraken visits.
Hungry liveaboard Divers will be well looked after on the Kraken as meals consist of pre-breakfast, breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, plus plenty of snacks in between. Beginning with lunch on check-in day, you can expect a range of cuisine consisting of International dishes with influences from Mexico and Italy. Beer and wine are provided free of charge. The vessel is fully air conditioned with private Double Staterooms, a Galley and a comfortable Living Room.
