The diving around Amed is varied and awesome with most of the sites available to reach from shore. For boats dives, local Jukung boats are used, providing jobs to local fishermen.
As far as dive sites are concerned, there are a number of wrecks, walls, coral gardens, drifts and some excellent muck/macro dives to be enjoyed. The variety and abundance of sites means they can be dives many times, in order to see their full potential.
What makes the diving so unique in Ahmed is the black sand volcanic bottom. It attracts plenty of unique species with divers sometimes seeing marine life they never knew existed.
Diving is possible here all year round with the best months falling between April-June and September-December.
Most divers dive with a 3mm wetsuit in the summer, whilst opting for a 5/7mm when the temperature drops in the winter months.
